Loyalist Creek Rehabilitation

The Loyalist Creek Project in Mississauga focused on stabilizing the creek bed and banks, controlling erosion and enhancing stormwater management.

Key improvements included the construction of armourstone walls and vegetated buttresses to protect against erosion and promote natural vegetation growth. To improve water flow and create better habitats, round stone was placed in the creek to form pools and riffles, which help slow water, reduce erosion and support aquatic life.

Two storm outfalls were integrated into the armourstone walls to manage stormwater runoff more effectively, reducing the risk of erosion and flooding. These upgrades not only improved stormwater quality but also restored the ecological health of the creek, creating a more sustainable and resilient environment.
